The shipmaster houses along the cobblestone streets are still majestic, and today, the idyllic village is considered one of the oldest and best-preserved in Bohusl\u00e4n. Carl Wilhelmsson&#8217;s studio is located by the bathing area.<\/p>\n<h4>Grundsund<\/h4>\n<p>Grundsund is the main village, located at the westernmost tip facing the North Sea. Cottages and houses climb from the shoreline into the mountains. Grundsund&#8217;s history is primarily the history of fishing and was once a significant fishing port and shipmaster&#8217;s community. The herring period in the 18th century contributed to the development of the community. During World War I, a canal was dug, dividing the village into two parts, the eastern and western sides.<\/p>\n<h4>Islandsberg<\/h4>\n<p>At the westernmost tip of Skaft\u00f6 lies Islandsberg Lighthouse. The walking path is two kilometers long and offers a characteristic landscape of Bohusl\u00e4n, devoid of forests. Once there, you&#8217;ll have a fantastic view of the archipelago.<\/p>\n<h4>Bassholmen<\/h4>\n<p>&#8220;The water flows strongly in the treacherous fairway. Vessels cautiously maneuver through narrow and winding passages to be able to dock at the island&#8217;s pier. Suddenly, it opens up, and Bassholmen&#8217;s pier is there, along with the Almogeb\u00e5tars Association&#8217;s museum and the hostel in the grove. Below, horses and sheep graze side by side in a delightful harmony.
